Can you remember what you wanted for your tenth birthday?
A bike, games, action figures?

Did you ever ask for nothing? Nothing for yourself that is, but something for homeless children instead.  Something for children who may not have anything.

That is what one special child wanted for his 10^th birthday this past February.

The invitation that went out for Benjamin's 10^th birthday party was just a little different from others children receive. Because along with being told there would be cake, ice-cream, videos, and pizza, came the following unusual request from a ten year old:  "Gifts ... None for me personally, please, but we are collecting items for JHR Oasis, a Children's Shelter in the City"… and attached was a list of items the shelter could use.

The birthday has passed and today, Benjamin, his brother Walter, and mother Elizabeth dropped off the birthday gifts. Suffice it to say that his friends, most of the Fourth Grade Class at Grace & St. Peter's School, responded very generously: Boxes and bags full of videos, toys, blankets, coloring books, crayons and, well, just too many items to list!

I can't remember what I did on my 10th birthday, but I don't think Benjamin will ever forget the special day when he decided to share his Birthday with the less fortunate children of Baltimore.
