WE NEED YOUR HELP to keep providing and expand our services. When you give to JHR you are helping to take people off the street, turn their lives around, and once more join society as productive citizens.

Please help us to help those that are less fortunate and give to JHR.

JHR Homeless Resource Center

JHR operates the Homeless Resource Center, a 24 hour/7 day-a-week homeless shelter and resource center located in downtown Baltimore serving about 275 men and women. The Center, which JHR operates under a contract with Baltimore City, admits homeless clients on a first come, first serve basis and has no admission criteria or screening.

Many of our clients suffer from serious physical and mental illnesses and are addicted to drugs and alcohol. Our goal is to help them locate resources and services to address the problems that led to their homelessness. The Center provides a safe, warm place to sleep, breakfast and a hot dinner, addiction counseling, mental health referrals, health servicer, and case management.

The shelter is located at:

210 Guilford Ave

In 2009,  the JHR Homeless Resource Center:

· Provided 205,978 meals

· Referred 660 people for substance abuse treatment

· Referred 1687 people to medical and general services

· Helped 658 people apply for housing

· Helped 148 people with employment

The Bad News ...

The need in 2010 is the same or more.

Sometimes it does look like an overwhelming struggle to end homelessness in Baltimore. The reality is that homelessness is not going to end overnight. The causes and cures are complex and as different as each client that we serve.

At the JHR Homeless Resource Center, we provide more then just shelter and food. We provide hope.
