On Wednesday February 10, 2010, Baltimore was hit with one of the worst winter blizzards in its history. On  February 11th, many Baltimoreans, with no hope of a snow plow cleaning their neighborhood streets, were forced to put on their winter gear, grab a shovel and dig themselves out from an avalanche of snow.

While most streets were filled with neighbors shoveling, the 300 Block of Bloom street was quiet.  Many senior citizens who were physically unable to clean their cars, much less their streets, were trapped in their houses.

The men at the JHR Lighthouse Community realized this was an issue and an army emerged from 339 Bloom Street to clear the block. The men later found out that many of the senior citizens who were trapped in their houses needed to go out in order to get medication, go to medical appointments and retrieve bare necessities.

Our Lighthouse Community men worked diligently on Thursday and Friday to clear a path out to Eutaw Street. After all was said and done, the men were praised and acknowledged for their hard work.
